Tutorial 3 - Setting Site-wide Elements

Now, before you upload your articles, there’s one more thing you need to do. You can actually leave this to last but I prefer to get it out of the way early in the process.

What you need to do now is set your site-wide elements. What are site-wide elements? Put simply these will be items that will appear on every single page on your site, thus the term “site-wide” (I made this up myself by the way).

3-1-mediaTo edit these elements, you will need to navigate to the “media” folder on your site.

All you need to do is edit all the files with a number in front.

The first two files are self explanatory. Your Header Title and your Header Tagline. These will appear in the header image at the top of your template.

The next four files are ad blocks that appear on each page of your site. There’s a block at the top of your content, within your content, at the bottom of your content and on the side of your content.

The easiest way to fill these blocks upĀ  is to insert Adsense ads. But from experience, I find that it is more profitable to have an affiliate product ad in place.

If you do choose to use Adsense, keep in mind that you can only have up to three Adsense blocks and you should also create a privacy policy page.

Ads are not the only things you can add to the block. You can pretty much add anything you want. It could be an opt-in form or even an RSS feed from other sites for automatically updated content.

Check out the following video on how to set your site-wide elements:
